Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Training

Our Green Belt students recently presented the results of their Continuous Improvement projects to the management team in Dublin.

We currently have nine members of the team in Ireland training for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt accreditations with each member implementing improvement projects over the last year across various departments. The projects completed include:

  • Streamlining Logistics – Creation of a comprehensive delivery schedule linked to production and install programmes achieving monetary savings through efficiencies.
  • Employee Recognition – Development and implementation of guiding principles reflective of our company culture and values, plus a defined reward and recognition scheme
  • Design Office Standard Annotations – Standardisation of annotations and material descriptions across the design office to ensure design quality across all drawings.
  • Design Office Visual Management – Improvement of the project communication mechanism within the design office to highlight progress and setbacks while also improving team building within the department and improving communications with outside departments.
  • Lessons Learned Documentation – Development and implementation of wide-reaching lessons learned documentation process which encompasses all departments involved in a project lifecycle.
  • 3D Software Phase II – Upskilling design office team members to specialists in 3D unitised design
  • Best in Class Project Management – Development of Project Management handbook to assist new Project Managers onboard, standardise operations and clearly define scope and responsibility of the role.
  • Skills Matrix Phase II – Further training plan developed for site, production and design departments with structure in place for ad-hoc training requests
  • Metal & Accessory Ordering – Improving the ordering process through defined roles, interdepartmental communications and the flagging of ordering delays.

Under their Green Belt training, the students learnt theoretical knowledge and key concepts of Lean Thinking and utilised them throughout their assigned projects. Each student applied the DMAIC methodology while implementing their project: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. Our students will receive their Green Belt accreditation later this year and will be leaders of our Continuous Improvement Programme in the future.
